History of DIET, Sonepur

District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Sonepur, Plot No.- 2420, 2421, 2427, 2428, Street No.- NH-37, Vill – Sonepur, PS No. 76, PO – Sonepur, Tehsil/taluka – Sonepur, Town/City – Sonepur, Dist – Sonepur, Odisha – 767017 is a Teacher training institution. Elementary training school was established in 1934 with 50 seats.in the next year E.T School was upgraded to Secondary training school with same numbers of seats. In 2005 Secondary training school was upgraded to District Resource Centre. In the order no ERC/7-169.11.12.5/NCTE/DELED-additional intake /2014/24171 Dt.24.02.2014 of NCTE, District resource centre (DRC) upgraded to District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) with a capacity 100 seats. It provides academic and resource support at the grass root level for the areas of elementary education. It has own building consists of Administrative block, three conference hall, two smart class room, one video conferencing hall, building for record room, meeting hall, library hall, laboratory, research & innovation centre, one studio hall, ICT Room etc. Hostel available for Boys with a capacity of 50 seats. All the campus surveillance with CCTV. After NCTE permission ,DIET Sonepur offering 02 years D.El.Ed. course and additionally conduct training and orientation programme by providing academic and research support and engagement in Action research .After restructring od DIETs and Revise academic branches ,the institute also have revise academic structures and function under five academic branches.

Vision

DIET Sonepur aims to develop Teachers capable of imbibing twenty first century life skills among the students of elementary section and also to emphasize the conceptual understanding of the learners for holistic development and committed to be developed as District Level Educational Hub of Sonepur in both academic and non-academic sphere in the district.

  • To carry out collaborative action research and intuitional research to fulfill the new educational policy.
  • To provide need based academic support during field monitoring to all elementary school and teachers of the district.
  • Our mission is to develop competent teachers who can excel in future professionally, socially and also individually, through Pre-Service Teacher Education programme.
  • To give constructive onsite support to teachers on pedagogical skills and practices through DIET-CRC linkage programme.
